Now Hiring: Part-Time Mix Engineer Assistant!

Are you an aspiring mix engineer and eager to learn the ins and outs of working in a professional studio environment? I’m looking for a Part-Time Mix Assistant to support me (Cian Riordan) with ongoing projects ranging from indie to major label work.

Location: Los Angeles Area (or remote)
Schedule: VERY Part-time (5–15 hrs/week, totally dependent on mix workload)
Compensation: TBD, based on experience.

What You'll Do:

  • Assist with session prep and organization.

  • You’ll field mix sessions & files from clients and integrate them into my mix template.

  • You’ll also be responsible for stem printing and delivery of mixes to mastering.

  • You are welcome to do this work remotely from your own system or use my studio outside of normal work hours (M-F 8am-6pm).

Who You Are:

  • A young aspiring recording/mix engineer looking to gain insight and experience in the field. This really isn’t a job for someone who is far down the road in their own recording career!

  • Ideally, you’ll have either another job or will have your own recording/mix business in parallel.

  • Experienced in Pro Tools. No ways around this… you need to have the basics down.

  • Strong ear for detail and a good musical sense — preferably for rock/alternative/pop music. Not much hip-hop & R&B coming my way, sadly.

  • Organized, reliable, and respectful of deadlines.

  • Willing to learn and take direction, but also able to work independently. Learning should be a two-way street here.

Bonus Points If You Have:

  • Experience with editing performances, vocal tuning, and iZotope RX.

  • A strong background in Mac OS.

  • A flexible schedule. You’d be welcome to come and hang out in person while I mix… I am happy to teach you everything I know.
